Malik Isasis

My work typically delves into social realism, that is, exploring the intersections of the personal and the political across genres. I tell stories of a multicultural world that embody the full range of human emotions. I like to explore contemplative, emotionally attuned characters.

I am a Brooklyn-based, narrative filmmaker, and was offered a development deal with Sesame Street Studio after participating as a 2019 Sesame Street Writing Fellow. In addition, I served as a New York Film Festival Fellow at the Artist Academy in 2019. Currently, I am a 2021 Jerome Foundation grantee and a member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective.

Awards

Voted #1 filmmaker by his mother. Furthermore, he has won an astounding Audience Award for 17 straight years from family and friends. That has got to be a record!
